Fluid Elegance

Give me water in any form
(clouds, rain, sleet, snow)
and I will tell thousand tales;
tears of sorrow and joy
frozen in time.
Give me water for a feeling
of wonder. I’d travel across
the ocean to witness
a marine miracle;
the sardine run.
Give me water for elegance
(ocean, sea, lake, river)
any stretch of water
will do; not to capture
but observe.
Give me salty water to cleanse
(sea, spring, sweat, tears)
and heal mysterious
rash, for the legend
tells me so.
Beauty infinite;
a work of art to behold.
As it runs and flows
I water my dreams,
life itself, and I let it be.

  1. The structure suits the topic perfectly. Water’s beauty is legendary for a very good reason and this is a wonderfully ebullient celebration of it.

  2. Give me water in any form
    (clouds, rain, sleet, snow)
    and I will tell thousand tales

    It is amazing so much tales can be spun from water. It appears as a common element but of utmost importance for survival. Wonderful lines Khaya!

  3. Aah, the ever elusive html for formatting. One day! It’s very effective – like a verbal waterfall of words to fit the theme. So cleansing and refreshing πŸ™‚

  4. Oh Khaya ❀❀ this is such an incredible response to the prompt πŸ˜€ I absolutely adore the form which you have chosen for this exquisite poem. Love that last stanza.. sigh.. so beautifully penned. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights πŸ˜€ and for your constant love and support ❀❀

    Lots of love,

  5. I too share your admiration for the ever changing states of water, the envy of the alchemist must be palpable. Nothing prettier or more exhilarating than a fresh babbling brook, sparkling on a sunny day πŸ˜€ XXX

    1. Thanks so much dear Jacque.:-)
      To create the form, I played around with the HTML div element to contain flow of text, and text-indent to align margins.
      I also replied to your question via your contact form for further illustration. I hope you find it helpful. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask. πŸ™‚
